Hello Everyone!

The latest up date for me is pretty amazing actually.   I'v been on radiation and chemo now for 3 weeks.  It appears so far that my reaction to any of it has been pretty marginal and I've exhibited very little if any side effects from it.   My only guess as to why has been the many positive and spiritual support you all have been sending my way.  You folks are wonderful and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.   I'm walking almost everyday now for about 30 to 40 minutes and all is good!  I wish I had more to report, but my health and well being seems to be good for now and getting better.   My wife, Susan, has been just the best and very, very supportive and loving.  I don't think I would have made it this far without her.

Love to you all, Randy

Today's Latest

Hello everyone, I'm feeling terrific right now.  Went to my radiation treatment this morning as I do every morning.

This is my first opportunity to thank everyone who has been praying, thinking good thoughts, sending angels, spirits from the heavens, and sending just good wishes for my recovery.  So far they all seem to be working.   You guys are the best!!

I get another MRI on April 8th.  the Docs want to seee how my brain/tumor if any (there shouldn't be) are reacting to the radiation and chemo.  I'll let all you all know when I do.

Your love and support for me has been overwhelming and very appreciative.   I hope to see you all very soon.   Randy

The Game Plan

The past week for Randy has been one of rest and recovery from his surgery. His son Travis came into town from Lake Tahoe on Tuesday to stay with Randy and Susan till Saturday, which they said was wonderful and incredibly helpful to have him here! And many friends have been helping out by bringing by meals for them to eat and each one is such a gift. All of the food, love and support is very much appreciated every time!
Randy was been feeling stronger each day and has been taking longer and longer walks to get back in shape after his stay in the hospital. The nurses told us that for every one day a person is in the hospital it takes two to recover, so he is doing great! Randy is feeling more like himself again and the doctors continue to be very pleased with his progress. The MRI scan after the surgery shows no signs of the tumor and Dr. Chen informed us that he removed almost 100%, which is incredibly good news!
The Game Plan for the next 6 weeks includes Radiation Therapy and Chemo Therapy simultaneously. Randy will have Radiation Treatments five days a week at John Muir Hospital, which he began on Monday morning. The Chemo Therapy the doctor prescribed is an oral medicine called Temodar, which is supposed to be very effective at destroying cancer cells and have less side effects than the IV Chemo Therapy. Randy picked up his prescription for Temodar today and will begin taking it tomorrow before his Radiation treatments. He will continue this course till the end of April and then have one week off before he and Susan depart for Brazil for the entire month of May! They are both excited for their journey and are actually going to the Brazilian Embassy tomorrow to apply for their tourist Visas! That's the update for now and please do feel free to post any comments or messages you would like on these postings.

Randy Is Home

I am overjoyed to let you know that Randy has returned home from the hospital! He recovered so quickly from the surgery last Monday that he was released from the hospital Saturday evening. All of the doctors were very happy with his excellent progress and the rehabilitation staff told us that there was no need to work with him because he is doing so well. The hospital discharged him around 6pm Saturday, just in time to return home for some dinner.  Randy and Susan spent the weekend together in Danville and enjoyed beautiful blue skies and sunshine after many days of rain. They met with doctors today to discuss future treatments and to prepare for radiation therapy to help with the remaining cancer cells.  Many thanks to everyone's continued love and support, it means the world to Randy and Susan and they are both so very grateful for every little thing. We are taking it one day at a time!

Transfer to the 5th Floor

Today's news is that Randy has been transferred to the 5th Floor of the West Wing of John Muir Hospital. He has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a private room in the Post-Op wing of the hospital. Randy now has his own room with a beautiful view of Mount Diablo and the surrounding area. He is feeling much better and the nurse described him as a model patient. This is great news and we are all very happy about his speedy recovery from surgery!
